Meghan Ritchie

Meghan Ritchie is the founder of Megpies, a pastry company dedicated to all-natural, delicious, and fun treats. A veteran of the hospitality and theater industries, Meghan’s idea for Megpies was born out of a desire to meet her Park Slope neighbors and to create a sense of community through food, so she started baking hand pies to sell casually on her stoop.

After her treats took off with commuters on their way to the subway in the morning, she decided that the hand pies had potential beyond her front steps and began creating clients out of local coffee shops, specialty food stores and, eventually, Starbucks.

Meghan’s passion for connecting with people through food translates into her personal life as well. Meghan has led baking classes for NYC area Girls Clubs and entrepreneurship classes for teen girls, and values any opportunity to help empower girls and young women through entrepreneurship and the art of baking.

An avid runner, Meghan ran her first New York City Marathon this past fall and enjoys taking advantage of her proximity to Prospect Park during training. Her commitment to running has been a helpful tool for decompressing during the work-week as well as for keeping a focus on goal oriented strategy for Megpies. Allowing the time to reflect on where the company has been and how it can grow has been crucial for Meghan, and she finds that there’s no better way to get a clear and focused mind than from a run.

Meghan’s favorite Megpies flavor is Chocolate – she eats the outside crust first and saves the middle of the tart for last.
