Madhu Goel Southworth

As Senior Vice President of Legal & Business Affairs, Madhu Goel Southworth serves as the highest ranking legal executive for AMC and Sundance TV, advising and counseling the networks’ business stakeholders on all aspects of legal and business affairs including licensing, litigation, trademarks, confidentiality, copyrights, right of publicity, rights & clearances, unions and guilds, special events, intellectual property, business intelligence, program launches, and global location-based entertainment experiences. Additionally, she is responsible for negotiating and drafting all agreements related to non-scripted series, digital and short-form productions, as well as partnerships and sponsorships. Goel Southworth also serves as lead liaison and counsel for AMC Studios, the company’s in-house production unit, as well as AMC Global, the networks international division.

Goel Southworth joined AMC Networks in 2009 as Senior Counsel, being promoted to Vice President in 2012. Previously, she served as Director of Legal and Business Affairs for Arts & Entertainment Television Network, as well as Corporate and Entertainment Litigator for Frankfort Kurnit Klein & Selz. She began her career at Sidley Austin Brown & Wood in New York.

Goel Southworth was named Corporate Counsel of the Year from the South Asian Bar Association of North America in 2015, received the Luminary award from National Association of Minorities in Cable in 2014, and has been named a Most Influential Minority in Cable from Cablefax for many years.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Political Science from the University of Illinois, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago Law School.
