Valarie Phillips

Valarie Phillips is an Agent in Paradigm Talent Agency’s Motion Picture and TV Literary Departments. She has shepherded the careers of Jamie Linden (Money Monster), Anthony Jaswinski (The Shallows), and Matthew Sand (Deep Water Horizon). Through the years, Valarie has worked closely with director Kenny Ortega, guiding him through the Michael Jackson concert-turned-documentary This is It, the television remake of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the sequel to the Disney hit, The Descendants. Since December 2016 – despite Hollywood’s dwindling spec market – Valarie has sold multiple spec scripts to studios including Fox Searchlight, Dreamworks/Amblin, Sony, and Amazon.

Additionally, several of Valarie’s clients work in the television space, including Eric Tuchman (Hulu’s Handmaid’s Tale), John Scott Shepherd (The Audience Network’s You, Me, Her), and Anthony Jaswinski (Lifetime’s A Midsummer’s Nightmare, currently in production). Valarie is a staunch advocate for women in the entertainment industry, and is thrilled about the work she and her colleagues have done on behalf of Nzingha Stewart, one of the most sought-after female directors in the industry. Valarie represents several talented female writers working in both television and film, including Erin Dignam (upcoming Alicia Vikander-starrer Submergence), Katie Wech (TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles), and Brenda Hsueh (How I Met Your Mother). A 4th generation Californian, Valarie graduated from UC Santa Barbara. She lives with her husband, their two daughters, and a Portuguese Water Dog in Toluca Lake.
