Sarah Lesser Avins

Sarah Lesser Avins is Senior Vice President, Chief Development Officer of New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She brings over 25 years of management and fundraising experience to this position.  Most recently, Sarah served as Vice President for External Affairs and the Chief Development Officer for the New York Genome Center since November of 2013. As many of you know, after joining the Hospital in 2007 as the Director of Campaign Development, Sarah rose to the position of NewYork-Presbyterian’s Vice President for Development.

Sarah worked in various capacities with progressive responsibility and was a part of the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of several principal and major gifts to the hospital. She was also the Executive Director of Leadership Giving, working with Trustees and donors to secure several gifts in the range of $10 million and above.

Sarah has also served as Director of Development at UCLA, Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for the RAND Corporation, and Director of Development for Sarah Lawrence College. Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree in Art History and Political Science from Sarah Lawrence College, and her Master’s degree in Philosophy in Russian and East European Studies from St. Anthony’s College, Oxford University.
